Every Child Counts

Numbers Count is an intensive, quality intervention available to our Key Stage 1 pupils to help raise confidence and achievement in the learning of Numeracy. Our Numbers Count teacher is Mr. Parker who works with pupils one to one, in pairs or small groups. Mr. Parker uses a learning programme tailored to meet the children’s needs, improving their skills and attitudes towards numeracy and improving their mathematical thinking.

The intervention is effective, with pupils nationally making average gains in their number age of 16 months from a minimum of 40 lessons.

The wider impact of the programme involves the Numbers Count teacher in continued professional development. This includes three days of training outside of school, with a Teacher Leader and other Numbers Count colleagues from across the education authority.

The programme is continually monitored and the progress made by the children is assessed, both during the teaching phase and afterwards.
